An investigation was started against 18 members and executives of The Association of Solidarity and Assistance for the Families of Missing Persons (YAKAY-DER), which was previously shut down with an emergency decree issued on July 23, 2016. The investigation was started by Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office with the allegation of “making illegal organization propaganda” based on the newspapers, magazines, banners and posters located in the association building. These banners include one that states, “They are missing, don’t forget them” with photos of those disappeared under custody. It was further indicated that another investigation was started against the executives of Istanbul Kurdish Institute, which was also previously shut down with the same emergency decree.
