As President Erdoğan transferred the debates between Ministry of National Defense Hulusi Akar and Republican People’s Party (CHP) MPs during budget negotiations in the Parliament to the judiciary, he initially demanded “compensation”, then “penalty.” Accusing CHP MPs criticizing the minister with “shamelessness,” Erdoğan concluded the situation with the expressions, “We have to give them the necessary lesson at the judiciary, and we will. They will only understand that language. First, compensation; then penalty.”
During the debates in the Parliament, there was a heavy discussion between former Chief of General Staff and current minister Akar and a group of CHP MPs. During the discussion, Akar shouted, “Listen for once!” Following this, Group Deputy Chairman Özgür Özel took the floor and said, “You can not scold those elected as an assigned minister, know your place first.”
