Another investigation was opened against Asst. Prof. Dr. Bülent Şık after the 12-year imprisonment claim against him due to announcing the cancer research hidden by the Ministry of Health to the public. The academic was dismissed from his position at Akdeniz University with an emergency decree and is now charged with “making terrorist organization propaganda” due to his social media posts.
The posts in question of charge at the court include the article in which Şık is handling the rates of nitrate in foods related to the iron found in spinach, using a visual of the “Popeye.” It is thought that the software of the security organization, scanning the social media, has taken the article in its radar due to the words written and not the actual content.
