The Constitutional Court (AYM) announced the reasoned decree on the application of Sıla Koç and Betül Öztürk Gülhan, who were exposed to close-range tear gas in their faces during the police intervention against the protest organised on the mass work murder in Soma. The court decided that the “ban of treatment against human dignity” was violated both materially and procedurally, as well as a violation of “the right to meeting and demonstration,” issuing 20 thousand TL compensation each to be paid for Koç and Gülhan. The Constitutional Court expressed that camera recordings on the incident were not submitted by the police to the Prosecutor’s Office and that the Prosecutor’s Office therefore didn’t research on the camera recordings; indicating that the Prosecutor’s Office left necessary steps to illuminate the reason for the incident and didn’t conduct the investigation with care.
